I have a complicated relationship with fandom
In a perhaps ill-advised move, last night I poked at eBay to see what Soul Eater doujinshi people had up for sale. "Maybe it was just a bad selection left at con," I thought to myself. "I can at least see if other things exist before I condemn the whole fandom to my eternal dislike." And to a certain degree they did! It looked like there are some really cute Maka/Soul things, anyway. But there was also even more stuff that made me go "...?" (Justin/Kid, really? Why?)

And there was only one thing that had Medusa in it. Which is one more than zero! ...But it appeared to be crying bukkake'd five-year-old Medusa. I... cannot find words to adequately describe how very much that is not what I'm looking for. Just. Augh.

But in more positive Soul Eater news, I am writing! I made substantial progress on a fic yesterday and I really want to get through it so I can post it and start the next one I want to write. :3

I am in general feeling pretty positive right now, despite things. I suspect the way the weather has actually felt like spring these past couple of days is helping a lot. Also new Dresden Codak!

Although I'd like it if both IJ and LJ stopped failing at comment notifications.

...And I feel like there was one other one-liner update I wanted to make, but I don't remember what it was now.

On the one hand, there was the visceral "asgjhsgh NO" reaction. On the other hand, part of my brain started to go "Well, if what you like is humiliation porn with small children, I guess Medusa is a pretty logical choice for it, being evil and not actually five years old, so you theoretically don't have to feel as bad about it I guess?" and that quickly managed to squick me out even further and had to close my eBay tab, so I guess that is really just further on the same hand. >_>

I don't know why I keep looking. There are reasons I was living happily in ignorance of the fandom.

But now that I've seen some of it I want to find evidence that it isn't all terrible? Or something.

	I feel like I should attack Y!J for you, because that is where I've found all my best doujinshi (best here meaning best art quality, best story, or best OMG WTF HAHAHAHAHA factor). If you did that, I would certainly not complain. ^^ I am not even sure I actually want to buy anything! I just sort of want assurance that anything at all exists for the parts of Soul Eater that I find most awesome, Medusa being high on that list. >_> (Maybe I can't find anything with her because she's just that cool. Everything with her sells out. That must be it, right?!)

	I might have to do that on the desktop later (for some reason, my desktop thinks it's Japanese, and has since the day I got it. It's not generally a problem, but it makes navigating iTunes interesting. XD) I still need to watch more Soul Eater. hunts eps out! (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
